Fishing & Boating News

Propeller Talk - To think this is for the Dec/Jan 2012 Propeller Magazine - where has the year gone?

At our last club meeting of the year, we didn't advertise a guest speaker because it's a night for club members to come along and share fishing stories and to share the Brag Board winners for 2011. In 2012 I am proposing a greater species list than currently as to better represent the regular catches of members.

No doubt you will have had a look at your member's survey. We have to plan many indoor and outdoor activities for the next year and you can help us by taking this opportunity to have your say. Please fill them in and get them back to the Secretary by the closing date. Many thanks.

Sydney Harbour – Safety Announcement

In early February 2007 the NSW Food Authority has advised that recent tests reveal elevated levels of dioxins in fish and crustaceans across Sydney Harbour, Parramatta River and associated estuaries. A ban has been placed on commercial fishing in these areas.

Although recreational fishing has not been banned in the above areas fishers are urged to follow the diet advice on the consumption of seafood from these areas.

The Food Authority is now advising that you should not eat seafood west of the Harbour Bridge. Your catch should be released if caught from this area.
For seafood caught east of the Harbour Bridge you should not eat more than 150gms of fish per month.
