Indoor Meetings, Events and Happenings
Visitors warmly welcomed
All indoor meetings are held on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Doors open at 7.40pm, meeting starts at 8.00pm in the small hall of the Roselea Community Centre, Pennant Hills Road Carlingford (Between North Rocks Rd and the M2 Motorway). Free supper and club magazine.
22 January - Welcome back.
At our first meeting of the New Year, let’s get together to swap war stories (some BS and maybe even some fact) about the break we have just had.
12 February - Andrew Hestelow
Andrew Hestelow from Downrigger Shop has been fishing off Sydney for forty years. He will be giving a presentation on deepwater fishing (over 500m deep), kingfish jigging and downrigging. Andrew will be bringing some products and offering super special prices to Sea Bees members – knife jigs, electric deepwater reels, and downriggers.
26 February - General discussion on Marine Parks
This meeting is critical to all of us. While the NPA continue unchecked in their endeavours to declare all of NSW a Marine Park, depriving each and everyone of us our recreation, we now have to present a united front.
Tonight we will formulate the terms of reference for our response to the current enquiry headed up by Bob Brown of the Shooters Party.
12 March - Update on Lake Lyell
With Lake Lyell only weeks away, now is the time to discuss strategies to ensure the SeaBees remain supreme at this Annual ANSA event. It will also be a chance to put your hand up to offer help instead of the same people carrying the burden each and every year.
26 March - 10/11 Fishing calendar
Here is you opportunity to have some input into next years fishing calendar. Your committee hears year after year that we have neglected your needs so hear is your chance to be heard.
9 April - Joe Sultana
Winter is nearly here and tonight Joe will show us how to “winter proof” our boats so that next summer will start without problems.
Past Speakers
Peter McWatters (13 November and 11 December) gave us one of the most informative talks held at the club for some time. Starting with the news that we have been looking for the big snapper in the wrong places to why kingfish and snapper rarely share the same space and lots more, Pete opened quite a few eyes to the reality of SP fishing.
Pete will be back later this year for some more discussion on many other piscatorial subjects.
Drop into Compleat Angler at North Rocks for in depth advice on any fishing item.
Emma Kelly and Brendan Sinnett from Fisheries (27 November) gave us a down to earth and subjective overview of Fisheries role in ensuring the sustainable future of our sport.
Revealing some of the finer detail like no terminal tackle attached to rods while passing through sanctuaries to some future regulatory changes made those of us who attended more aware of Fisheries role.
