Indoor Meetings, Events and Happenings
Visitors warmly welcomed
All indoor meetings are held on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Doors open at 7.40pm, meeting starts at 8.00pm in the small hall of the Roselea Community Centre, Pennant Hills Road Carlingford (Between North Rocks Rd and the M2 Motorway). Free supper and club magazine.
13th August - David Tosland - Middle Harbour
A while back, David made a statement on the forum that “most species can be caught within sight of the ramp.” Tonight, we’ll hear from David, how it’s all done! Perhaps, a few of us need to put away the bait for a while and try the soft plastics and hard bodied lures. This night should be great!
27th August - Annual General Meeting
NO EXCUSES FOR NOT ATTENDING! A small band of enthusiastic members have been putting in a vast amount of effort over many years. This small group needs to have a spell and let other members take the reins of the club and run with new ideas. The older blokes will be there to advise, but we need new blokes to take the lead. It’s your club-everyone needs to contribute. It’s vital for all positions to be filled.
10th September - Glenbawn Tactics
Tonight a number of members from our club will talk how we can maintain the standard we have established in freshwater fishing. We will examine where to fish and what lures to use with the upcoming ANSA outing.
24th September - Andrew Galway - Trailer Boat Fishing Magazine
A very different night! Andrew will lead us in discussion of plotting and recording fishing locations on Google mapping; logging and recording fish catch data; graphing actual fish feeding behaviour; plotting fish feeding patterns; sharing select detail with other friends or users for greater depth in data analyses and discussing the benefits of developing personalised Polynesian Fishing Charts. Not to be missed!!
Past Speakers
Peter McWatters (13 November and 11 December) gave us one of the most informative talks held at the club for some time. Starting with the news that we have been looking for the big snapper in the wrong places to why kingfish and snapper rarely share the same space and lots more, Pete opened quite a few eyes to the reality of SP fishing.
Pete will be back later this year for some more discussion on many other piscatorial subjects.
Drop into Compleat Angler at North Rocks for in depth advice on any fishing item.
Emma Kelly and Brendan Sinnett from Fisheries (27 November) gave us a down to earth and subjective overview of Fisheries role in ensuring the sustainable future of our sport.
Revealing some of the finer detail like no terminal tackle attached to rods while passing through sanctuaries to some future regulatory changes made those of us who attended more aware of Fisheries role.
